For over 20 years, Deck Nine Games has been making award-winning games and technology. Deck Nine has ranged far and wide with the genres and platforms for their games, but we were always building a reputation for innovative technology and compelling gameplay. For the past four years, Deck Nine has been focused on building remarkable tools and technology for the creation of dramatic storytelling games. We are currently in pre-production on our next big title. We recently shippped Before the Storm, a sequel to the hit game Life is Strange. We have additional projects in the pipeline and are continuing to grow our cinematic, artistic and narrative tools and technology.

We are growing and are looking for a Lead Programmer who is ready to jump their career to the next level. You've spent years learning on the job and are ready for greater responsibility, but can't advance any further at your current job. If this is you, come join us and work on some amazing games. As a lead programmer you are implementing systems, gameplay, and visuals on our games.  In addition, you are working with the stakeholders and leads to conceive, design and guide the game. Building a plan that can meet the goals the team has set, you'll provide direction and leadership to your team. 


RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a team of software engineers in the design and implementation of core game features
- Collaborate with designers, artists and others to conceive of and plan out the features for the game.
- Contribute innovative and original ideas toward all aspects of the game’s production and development. 
- Review the work of other engineers and provide mentorship 
- Collaborate with Technology Director on technical design, core tech and feature roll out

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience shipping games in a senior or mid-level role 
- Expert on at least one major current gen platform
- Fluent in C++
- Creative, focused, results-oriented, self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver with excellent debugging and strong communications skills
- A passion for well architected, robust, maintainable, and extensible code with good coding standards
- Ability to mentor, interview, and evaluate programmers 
- Comfortable working within and enhancing an established code framework
- Passionate about making games
- Patient and calm during periods of stress
- Degree in software engineering, computer science, physics, math or equivalent
- Must exhibit a positive attitude and be a strong team player

BENEFICIAL SKILLS
- Unreal 4 experience
- .NET programming experience
- Experience working with Maya API
- WPF/XAML Experience
- QT Experience
- MVVM Experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years C++ programming experience
- Multiple shipped games
- AAA games experience
