Job Description
Picture Shop in Burbank, CA is seeking a VFX Editor to manage
plate pulls, organize project elements, render deliverables, and cut reels as
needed.
Picture
Shop is a state-of-the-art visual post house, offering complete and integrated
services to both the feature and television communities. Founded by industry
veteran Bill Romeo, Picture Shop operates from the belief that no job is too
big or too small for our dedicated team of production artists. From dailies and
VFX, color and editing, we deliver exceptional attention to client needs in a
modern, collaborative atmosphere. Our 36,000 square foot facility is equipped
with the latest technology, housing eight color bays, four edit bays, three
flame rooms and resources for up to 100 VFX artists.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull VFX plates and elements from dailies or provided source
media using client-provided bins & EDLs; convert and rename to required project
format. Check shot counts against references and troubleshoot any disparities.
- Convert and post temp and final deliverables to project
specification. Keep informed of daily deadlines. Communicate frequently with
VFX Producers/Coordinators about project IO status and provide accurate estimates
to completion.
- Cut and update sequences with in-progress and completed VFX
cut-in for reviews and reference.
- Organize project files, elements, and references according to
facility pipeline. Manage SAN storage and capacity with I/O.
- Create and maintain database of show I/O tech specifications.
- Work with Engineering to troubleshoot any technical issues that
arise in the client or internal pipelines that impact our ability to ingest,
covert, and deliver data.
- Cut facility demo reels and enhance with music, sound, and
graphics as needed.
- May require
evening hours and weekends during peak season
Qualifications & Experience
- Expertise in Avid, and familiarity with Frame Cycler and RV,
After Effects, Final Cut, Adobe Premiere, and graphics. Tape Ops and Shotgun experience
a bonus. Ability to learn new software/hardware quickly.
- Experience with SAN data management and secure transfer
methods (Aspera, SFTP, etc).
- Bachelor’s degree or greater in TV/Film-related program, or
experience in lieu.
- Extremely detail oriented; able to work
independently, stay calm & motivated under heavy deadline pressure; positive
team player.
- Proactive problem solver, quick learner with a strong work
ethic and a can-do attitude.
This position is
full time, freelance (with the potential to become staff with competitive
benefits package), start date in July. Pay DOE.
