2D/3D Interactive Designer

Overview 
Detroit area based Pixo Group is looking for a staff 2D/3D Interactive Designer to join their creative team. PIXO creates amazing technology-fueled experiences for major brands and creative agencies. Our experiences incorporate technologies such as virtual reality, mixed reality, special effects photography, mobile apps, and even games to mesmerize and captivate our client’s audiences. As a member of our creative team, you’ll be challenged to dream up inspiring new solutions. Job Description: 
As an interactive Designer at PIXO, you love designing experiences and solutions that are both visually beautiful and easy to use. Sitting firmly between the crossroads of UX design and Visual Design, you’re the bridge between the beautiful and the functional. You’ll take on complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use designs for a wide audience base. You’ll be challenged to design for a large variety of touch points, and will need to adapt to the dynamic nature of live events. At times you’ll be required to support several projects at once. This position reports directly to the Creative Director.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver ready to jump in and provide their expertise to solve creative problems and raise the quality level at every step of the project. This person also demonstrates their passion for the craft by keeping informed on new technologies, market trends, and industry techniques. 

Responsibilities 

  • Create visually compelling compositions for screens of all sizes (from jumbotrons to mobile phones) 

  • Define, explore, and present interesting digital interactions to clients and the creative team. 

  • Collaborate with the UX/UI team to create engaging and intuitive interactions. 

  • Create pixel perfect UI assets from approved designs 

  • Create Motion compositions, and animations to demonstrate advanced interactions.   

  • Contribute design and animation expertise to company sales and marketing efforts. 

  • Mentor and train junior design staff 

  • Maintain, contribute and adhere to our best practices and any brand guidelines. 

  • Determine accurate time estimates for defined tasks. 

  • Manage time and schedule based on company priorities  

Requirements 

  • Proven static and motion design expertise demonstrated through submitted portfolio  

  • Expert user of the Adobe product line (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) 

  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe product line (InDesign, Premiere, etc) 

  • Strong working knowledge of Maya/ Max and/or similar 3D package 

  • Familiar with principles of HMI and UX Design  

  • Capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Understanding of common software/production project management practices. 

  • Ability to work effectively with management, clients, business analysts, and developers. 

  • Outstanding attention to detail. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

 Preferences 

  • Experience with Unity Game Engine or Similar Gaming SDKs 

  • Experience with web design 

 Education and/or Experience 

  • 5+ years of professional experience (agency, game development, or similar creative industries) 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Design, Animation, or Film (proven industry experience is also acceptable)
