Associate Artist, UI (Temp)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:   

NetherRealm Studios, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks an Associate Artist to work closely with the UI Lead, Production, and Game Designers to maintain and create high quality assets for Console and Mobile. The candidate will leverage in-game assets and our own proprietary tools to capture assets that are in line with aesthetic goals and established art direction on our current project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Comping up/Sketching ideas based on a predefined list of icons and background images that communicate a clear direction and can be provided to outsourcers.
  • Leverage in-game assets and tools to capture iconic representations of game elements and present work in an organized fashion for review and iteration to completion.
  • Efficiently prepare assets for console and mobile, including resizing, formatting and properly checking into appropriate packages.
  • Maintain the high-quality bar established by NetherRealm’s titles. 
  • Report regularly to the UI Art Lead with progress
  • Leverage organizational skills to manage and maintain an accurate list of assets in various states of production.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • 1 year of Graphic Design/Illustration/Multimedia or equivalent experience.
  • Degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Multimedia Specialist or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong art training and sensibility.
  • Has at least 3 years experience and is highly skilled in Photoshop. Illustrator a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Experience with 3D a bonus
  • Strong traditional art skills a bonus
  • Quick study easily adaptable to new technology with little need for hand-holding and instruction.
  • Adapts and adheres to established protocols, file structures, naming conventions, etc.
  • Has experience with a Source Control program, such as Perforce.
  • Displays a high level of creativity, communicates clearly, organizes tasks, has an eye for detail and a strong work focus.
  • Embraces and adapts to changing technology and art vision for each game.
  • Works well within a team, under deadlines, provides/accepts direction and collaborates productively with others.
  • A portfolio/website review of the candidate’s art skills, design sensibilities and attention to detail is required.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and redo/iterate work until it's right.
