At DICE, the designer is the person that creates the design which is intended to manifest itself into the game, more specifically focused around gameplay mechanics, physical spaces, support system, narrative structure and user interface.

As a leader at DICE you are open to find solutions to a problem, remove obstacles and align on our overall goals.

The work can be separated into two parts: Design and Implementation/Validation. These often overlap over time, due to game developments iterative nature. The three key values for a designer at DICE should be Open, Iterative and Decisive. The Lead Designer reports to the Design Director or the Creative director.

 Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Spearhead the design of key areas of the game
  • Lead a team of designers in your focus area
  • Create and maintain a healthy design culture within your team
  • Guide and mentor designers towards solutions that have a foundation in the project pillars
  • Create and maintain documentation of design solutions
  • Develops and reviews new progressive gameplay and systems
  • Keeps abreast of new trends and styles in the industry
  • Work with the player in mind, make designs that center around the players experience
  • Create fun and accessible systems that lead to high engagement

Requirements:      

  • Relevant education and diploma (Game Design, Computer Science, engineering etc)
  • 6+ years’ experience in game design
  • At least two shipped AAA titles, at least one as Lead Designer or similar
  • Must have practical experience in game scripting (Kismet, Lua or similar)
  • Proven ability to create game concepts
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members from different locations and different disciplines
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Willingness to have an open mind and adapt and iterate designs
  • Proven ability to seek or demonstrate clear decision making
