About the Position
DHX Studios-Vancouver is looking for talented Character Rotations Artists to join one of our awesome 2D Flash production teams! As a Character Rotations Artist, you will create character rotations that will be used as reference sheets for the Posing and Animation teams. We’re looking for portfolios that showcase a variety of styles, multiple full character turnarounds, and a strong understanding of human/creature form.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Art Director and Designers to help create full character rotations that follow the style of the original designs, and stay within production guidelines
- Recreate the structure of each given character pose from multiple angles to create full 360° rotations
- Assist with polishing and refining character design concepts
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of human and creature proportions, shape, silhouette, angles and spacing
- Capture both the technical and the stylistic side of the character in each rotation
- Ensure consistency and quality throughout your work
Qualifications
- Experience in character rotations on a series preferred
- Previous experience in character and/or prop design in a production is a definite asset
- Strong drawing ability and a solid sense of design for 2D animation
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to adapt to multiple production styles
- Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school desired
- Ability to work digitally (Photoshop, Flash, Sketchbook, etc.)
- Experience in 3D Design is an asset
- A strong understanding of proportion, balance, perspective, dimension and dynamism
- Ability to take direction and work collaboratively within a team
- Ability to communicate professionally and positively
- Well organized with good time management skills
