BG Paint & Prep Artist [Expressions of Interest]

Rising Sun Pictures is currently seeking speculative applications from BG Paint & Prep Artists to join our team for a highly anticipated Science Fiction feature film.

Employment period: October 2016 start, through to January 2017, with options for extension on other shows likely.
Location: Adelaide, Australia. This position is open to local and international applicants. Visa and relocation assistance provided where applicable.


Position Overview
RSP has a number of digital paint positions available to local and international artists. Ideal candidates will have exceptional skills in rig removal and plate preparation. Applicants with with prior experience working in similar roles across live-action VFX films will be reviewed with priority. Prep artists at RSP use a combination of Nuke & Silhouette in a Linux OS environment.


Responsibilities

• Create and deliver motion paintwork including rig & tracking marker removal, plate enhancement and background preparation.
• QA your work in advance of submission for approval, providing delivery notes as necessary.
• Refine your work based on feedback received from compositors, leads or heads of department, adapting work priorities accordingly.
• Diagnose and resolve issues within your workflow, and work in a manner that allows other team members to pick up your work if required.

• Advanced use of Silhouette.
• Intermediate knowledge of Nuke’s matte toolset.
• Design or Fine Art background preferred, but not essential.
• Practical working knowledge of colour theory, grain and image composition.
• Ability to work in a Linux based operating system using command line tools and understand file system navigation.
• Experience with production tracking software such as Shotgun preferred.
• Basic experience with Mocha desirable.
• An understanding of the VFX pipeline and entire post-production process, including interdepartmental dependencies and hand over processes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanour in a delivery-focused work environment.
