Description
A new animation studio is opening in
Liverpool, January 2017. Production starts with a commission from
one of the US studios to produce a children's television series (52 x 11
minutes plus 2 x half hour specials)
and there is a strong slate of
TV shows and feature films in development.
Fourth Wall are currently looking for an
experienced Layout Artist with several years' experience in a similar role on
broadcast or film projects. The position requires a solid generalist
understanding of Maya. A good
understanding of storytelling is a must.
Responsibilities:

Establish geography, functionality and layout of location assets by building proxy geometries and feeding these assets
to Modelling
·
Previs key animation sequences with an
emphasis on camera, staging, timing and functionality of a sequence
·
Work closely with the Directors on
sequence layout and location blocking. Work closely with the animation teams to improve delivery and reduce re-shoots as production proceeds
·
Set up cameras for shots and layout
action for Animation as directed
Technical and artistic requirements:
·
Five years’ previous experience in the
CG Industry in a relevant role, with at least one year in a lead capacity
·
Must have an understanding of visual
storytelling for layout, cameras and composition
·
An excellent sense of pacing and timing
in Animation
·
Must have strong working knowledge of
animation principles, camera set-up and proxy modelling in Maya
·
Strong problem-solving skills and attention
to detail and quality
·
Liaise with production on a daily/weekly
basis and highlight potential bottlenecks in a timely manner
·
Experience of working with tracking
software such as Shotgun or FTrack
Personal requirements:

Must be able to work alone and
collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure, open to
direction and able to embrace change

Excellent communication skills
·
Ability to work collaboratively with
multiple tasks in a fast paced production environment, pressurized environment
