Senior Artist/Animator (Temp)
Description
Summary of Position:
Monolith
Productions and the creators of Shadow Of Mordor,
seeks a Senior Artist/Animator responsible for creating consistent,
high-quality cinematic character and creature animations. The Senior Artist,
Animator will have a strong knowledge of the principles of character motion and
an excellent understanding of 3D game animation pipelines.
Ongoing
responsibilities include assisting the team in maintaining
process and pipeline, managing deliverables, and having solid communication with
Cinematics Manager, Cinematics Lead, Directors of Art and development teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Character Animation (based on mocap) and
implementation
- Character and Creature Animation (hand key) and
implementation
- Cleaning
up facial/lip synch animations.
- Animation
pipeline development and maintenance
- Participates in departmental meetings to share
personal ideas and define the structures of in game animation asset
creation.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualification Standards:
Work Experience
- 5+
years of industry art and animation experience
- A
minimum of 2 published game preferably PS4 and/or XboxOne
- Experience
in the third person action genre a plus
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or
Certification
- Minimum of 2-year 2D/3D art degree with
an emphasis in character keyframe animation or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge/Skills
- Minimum
5+ year’s experience with industry standard 3D animation packages (Maya, Motion
Builder, 3DS Max).
- Exceptional
foundation animation knowledge with a deep understanding of hand key and motion
capture process.
- Industry
leading character (biped) and creature animation (quadruped) skills with an
ability to create highly realistic AAA quality animation content.
- Strong
experience and understanding of character and animation art pipelines on Xbox
One and/or PS4.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal,
and organizational skills.
- Ability
to adapt rapidly to new or changing technology with an interest in finding ways
to evolve and improve the animation pipeline.
- Must
have an active, passionate interest in current video games with a solid
understanding of industry trends.
- Solid
organization skills with adherence to file structures, naming conventions and
other established protocols.
- Excellent
ability to self-manage and accurately predict and adhere to task length estimates
and deadlines.
- Must
be an excellent collaborator with a willingness to provide/accept direction and
the ability to embrace change.
- Ability to work cross departmentally and
effectively communicate to support systems/feature development.
- Body
and facial rigging skill and an understanding of MEL/Maxscript
desirable.
