Detailed Job Description:

The School of Film and Animation (SOFA) is inviting applications for a lecturer faculty position in Animation.

 

We seek an active artist dedicated to the education of filmmakers/animators. The candidate should demonstrate substantial aptitude in the history of Animation from around the world. Courses will involve teaching undergraduate and graduate students the aesthetics and techniques of single frame motion media production. Additional experience in any of the following areas is desirable: animation principles; foundational, traditional and digital animation techniques; character performance; cinema production; and fine arts. In addition to a 4/3 - teaching load, responsibilities include career advising for students, assisting in curriculum development, and providing service to the college, school and department.

Department Description:

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:  The College of Imaging Arts and Sciences offers programs in Art, Design, Crafts, Film and Animation, Photography and Print Media. The internationally recognized School of Film and Animation (SoFA) offers BFA and MFA degrees in film production with emphasis in either animation or live action and a BS degree in Motion Picture Science. SoFA provides a creative community where students have the opportunity to discover their unique talents and expressive potential while at the same time developing the skills needed to fulfill any creative or technical role in the film and animation industry. SoFA enrollment is typically at 275 undergraduate and 50 graduate students.

Job Requirements:

 

• Applicants with an MFA, non-terminal Masters or Bachelors degree with related professional experience will be considered for this non-tenure track faculty position

• Animation production experience

• Body of work (portfolio)

• Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
