Software Engineer, Data Warehouse (Temp)
Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
As a member of our studio’s Business Intelligence team, you will work
closely with analysts, engineers, and producers to develop data management
systems for our next triple-A title. As a Data Engineer, your domain will span
all aspects of the data pipeline and your responsibilities will include design,
implementation, and management of systems to ensure the studio’s analytics and
business intelligence needs are met accurately and quickly.
In addition, as part of our studio's highly collaborative engineering group,
you will have ample opportunity to share your experience and expertise on the
development of both data specific and general engineering systems among the
entire team.
This job will require close collaboration with other data engineers within
our external analytics platform team on issues of data architecture. The Data
Engineer will also work with the Lead Software Engineer, Engineering Manager,
and Producer to help develop realistic schedules and identify all dependencies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build and automate processes such as the creation of aggregate tables,
dashboard-specific tables, and enriched tables for use in reporting and
analytics-powered features
- Design
and build data transformation pipelines to support analytics projects involving
machine learning, predictive modeling, and other data science techniques
- Work
with our external Analytics Platform team to design, build, and improve data
architecture
- Work
with our internal analytics and engineering teams to ensure data is captured
accurately and efficiently
- Manage
our multi-terabyte data store and help architect solutions that reduce cost and
increase performance of analytics uses
- Other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
|
Work Experience
- Experience with both relational and noSQL databases,
data structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Experience creating extraction and transformation
processes across multiple platforms, including both traditional and Big
Data implementations.
- Experience implementing custom ETL using a modern
scripting or programming language such as Java, Python, or Scala,
preferably in big data environments such as Spark or Hadoop.
- Strong knowledge of SQL coding.
- Knowledge of columnar data warehouse architectures such
as Vertica and Redshift.
Desirable Experience
- Hands-on implementation using Big Data query engines,
specifically SparkSQL, Hive, or Presto.
- Creative, focused, results-oriented, self-motivated,
resourceful problem-solver with excellent debugging skills
- Interest in Video Games, especially open world action
games on console, a big plus.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or
Certification
- B.S.
degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Knowledge/Skills
- Ability
to easily communicate technical topics with both engineers and
non-technical people alike
- Ability to openly discuss and review technical proposals,
requirements, designs, algorithms, source code, and reference documents
with engineers, content creators and managers
