Designs, implements and creates animation controls and deformation systems to control 3D geometry which may represent characters, creatures, vehicles, props for a movie production , according to the technical guidelines of the character rigging supervisor.
Main responsibilities
- Designs, implements and creates animation controls and deformation systems to control 3D geometry which may represent characters, creatures, vehicles, props for a movie production , according to the technical guidelines of the character rigging supervisor.
- Works with animators to ensure building of most effective animation controls.
- Works with Department Developers to develops tools, procedures and interfaces to optimize setup pipeline, writing scripts to facilitate workflow improvements in Python or MEL, or working with a programmer to enable them to make such improvements effectively.
- Works with character modelers to explore character geometry topology which has the most efficient deformation in practical playback speed.
- Brainstorming new techniques and ideas for user interfaces, deformation tools, and character specific rigging solutions.
- Reports to the Set Up & Rigging Supervisor.
- Supports the department supervisor managing and helping other artists.
Qualifications
• Strong technical knowledge of Autodesk Maya.
• Strong understanding of anatomy and motion.
• Good understanding of existing rigging techniques and muscles deformations.
• Strong knowledge of Python and MEL.
• Knowledge of Houdini will be a plus.
