About The Opportunity:   Our platform services team is growing and we are looking for a hands-on Rendering Sup to manage our local and cloud based rendering infrastructure across our Cinema and VR/AR initiatives.  In this impactful role you will build and lead a small team of render wranglers and work with bleeding edge technologies and workflows.

Main Responsibilities:

    • Build and maintain our  large cloud server farm which  processes enormous amounts of lightfield cinema and virtual reality content (think petabytes).
    • Implement and manage novel rendering workflows for processing photographic 360° 6-DOF virtual reality content.
    • Interface closely with internal and external VFX artists to efficiently process content on the render farm.
    • Produce usage reports and forecasts for render farm to help scale server resources for upcoming productions.
    • Generate storage reports for productions and work with TDs to manage data lifetimes.
    • Grow and manage a small team of operations software engineers and/or render wranglers.
    • Develop procedures and best practices to safeguard large amounts of proprietary data in both cloud and local environments."
    • Document software pipeline procedures.
    • Monitor job queues, re-prioritize jobs, re-size clusters, bump jobs and check frames in accordance with priorities.
    • Become an expert user of Thinkbox’s Deadline render management software.

Required Skill & Experience:

    • Experience hiring, training and leading a team of operations software engineers or render wranglers.
    • Highly technical; able to help debug OS, network, and rendering issues.
    • Linux system administration experience and familiarity with the Windows operating system.
    • Working familiarity with cloud processing environments such as GCP or AWS.
    • Can manage installation of 3rdParty software, apply patches, and build relationships with software vendors.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to record information accurately and to produce future workload estimates.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Bonus Points:

    • Familiarity with Digital content creations software such as Nuke and Maya is a plus.
    • Knowledge of render management software such as Deadline, Qube, or Tractor is a plus.
