Purpose of the
job:
The
Senior Matte Painter creates photorealistic paintings that are used as an
element to either embellish or replace live action footage.

Essential
Functions/Responsibilities:
- Works closely with
Supervisors to produce painting and elements that matches concept
- Provide or acquire
photographic reference materials
- 2D and 3D paintings for
digital environments
- Camera Setup
- Modeling for Projection
- Camera Animation
- Projection Setup
- Image Re-Projection
- Atmospherics and Light

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Required:
- College
degree in art, industrial design, painting or a related field and/or a
combination of education and experience that would be equivalent to that
level of professionalism, problem solving and analytical skills.
- 5+ years work
experience required in feature films creating photorealistic
environments.
Skills,
Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:
- Photoshop
knowledge
- Maya knowledge
- Understanding of
Nuke or compositing software
- Strong knowledge
of advanced matte painting techniques including color space, digital paint
techniques and Photoshop file management (be it file format, bit depth
resolution or appropriate layering of elements)
- Strong knowledge
and ability with perspective, value matching, and motion
- Strong knowledge
of camera focal lengths and composition
- Knowledge of film
resolution and aspect ratios
- Strong time
management in relation to deadlines
- Good interpersonal
and communication skills

Working Conditions
and Environment/Physical Demands:
- Office
working environment.
- Hours for
this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra
hours pending production needs.
- Walking/bending/sitting.
