At Matterport, we’re bringing high quality 3D reconstruction to the world by aggressively innovating in computer vision and other areas. We’ve already built an amazing 3D reconstruction system, but we have a lot of work planned to make it even better. We’re developing new computer vision algorithms, new 3D capture techniques, new scene understanding capabilities, new ways of experiencing and navigating 3D content, and new applications for various markets.
Role and Responsibilities:
We’re seeking a software engineer with computer vision experience whose focus will be determining the most promising product and technical directions for new features and capabilities that are 6-18 months out. You’ll research these directions for technical feasibility and customer value, and develop them to the proof-of-concept stage for hand-off to engineering. In some cases, you may also be responsible for directly contributing production code. Areas of computer vision work may include innovations in point cloud alignment, generation and texturing of 3D meshes from point clouds, SLAM, structure for motion and 3D scene understanding.
Matterport’s computer vision codebase is in C++. We’re looking for someone who can work independently, collaborate well with other team members, and write clean, stable code. We care most about the ability to learn new things, but specific, relevant experience is always desirable.
