Assistant Art Director
Description
Summary: The Assistant Art Director creates exciting and imaginative art for games by collaborating with internal teams and directing freelance artists to develop concepts into final artwork.
Responsibilities:
- Commission and direct artwork from freelance artists - including but not limited to providing references and giving constructive feedback to freelancers on their work from concept to final.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and licensors regarding artwork.
- Facilitate communication between freelance artists, internal teams and Licensing department.
- Collaborate with members of the Art Department team.
- Scout for new artistic talent; review portfolios.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with new and existing freelance artists.
- Use and maintain active artist and project databases.
- Attend industry events as a representative of FFG’s art department.
Position Skills:
- Concise and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of visual design principles (composition, color, value, proportion, anatomy, texture, etc.).
- Understanding of visual storytelling.
- Ability to take direction and collaborate effectively with teams and individuals.
- Strong time management and organization skills.
- Creative problem solving skills.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Three to five years in visual art training and/or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop.
