Producer, Live Action

Purpose of the job:

Digital Domain’s Virtual Reality Platform has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Live Action Producer to work at the cutting edge of the VR Revolution. We are the industry leader in producing virtual reality and we are looking for a Line Producer that has the passion to jump in and help us usher the entertainment industry into a new era, bringing immersive, high-definition virtual reality directly to fans.

Do you have experience in the commercial, production, VR world and know how to produce top quality content? We are looking for a self-starter to take ownership of his/her role, carry out the vision of the creative director, pitch their own ideas, make quick decisions and adjust plans on the fly when necessary. You will be responsible for taking the lead on VR productions, planning out the production process, ensuring the efficient/timely/cost effective production from creative briefing through delivery of the job.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned Live Action Producer who not only thrives in a fast-paced environment, but is open to frequent travel and has a passion for the job. If you are looking to broaden your experience with immersive technology then this might be the best job you ever had.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • You are a storyteller. Able to develop high quality live action and cinematic content with ease.
  • Work closely with the Head of Production and Executive Producers to properly budget the scope of work and schedule our VR projects from shoot through final delivery.
  • Creating appropriate and accurate bids (working with creative teams) with an emphasis on creativity to meet budgetary constraints of clients.
  • Work with internal teams to develop staffing plans for specific live action productions and recruit freelance positions when necessary.
  • Create the budget and plan, track and monitor all costs related to the production.
  • Presents production budgets and schedules and addresses production related questions for internal and external clients.
  • Accountable for maintaining relationships, client satisfaction and management of expectations while ensuring that the work is on strategy, on time, and on budget and that projects are actualized, well documented, archived and closed.
  • Manages all aspects of pre-production, production and post-production.
  • Supervise edit session, whilst understanding the balancing act required to have a thriving relationship within your team.
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards and elevates creativity.
  • Supports leadership within department, keeps supervisor appraised of status of work.
  • Facilitates all materials getting to their destinations on time, including final masters for trafficking.
  • Cultivation of strong relationships with all internal departments including creative teams, media teams, and account teams as well as industry partners.
  • Remains current on industry and technological trends.

Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Required:

  • 3 – 5 years in live action productions either commercials, short-form or music experience required.
  • Ability to identify project scope and prepare production calendars and bids.
  • Leadership skills – Willingness to lead AND be a part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the latest broadcast technology.
  • Creative problem-solver who finds ways to make things happen.
  • Experience and knowledge with permits, rights and clearance procedures.
  • Good knowledge of IATSE and DGA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills while under time and resource constraints.
  • Line production experience required.

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: 

  • Office working environment.
  • Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra hours pending production needs.
  • Walking/bending/sitting.
  • 30%+ Travel Requirement
