Want to make awesome cartoons with amazingly talented teams in a cool new studio?

DHX Media – Vancouver is looking for an experienced Character Designer to join our team! 

If you’ve always wanted to see your designs come to life in an awesome cartoon, being a Character Designer is what it’s all about! For this position, we’re looking for a portfolio that shows a variety of styles with a strong understanding of human/creature form and examples of mouthcharts, handcharts and turnarounds.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

• Working with our Art Director and other Designers to create engaging, performable characters according to the style of the production
• Translating character description and attitude from script to visual design
• Submitting multiple design variations and revisions based on feedback from Directors
• Creating model sheets of character turnarounds and facial/anatomical expressions

WHAT YOU BRING:

• 2+ years’ experience designing characters in a production environment
• Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school desired
• Strong drawing ability and a solid sense of design for 2D animation
• A strong understanding of proportion, balance, perspective, dimension and dynamism
• Ability to take direction and work collaboratively within a team environment
• Ability to communicate professionally and positively
• Well organized with good time management skills
• Knowledge and experience in Flash is a definite asset
• Experience in 3D Design is an asset
