Description
SCAD seeks a writer to join the university’s executive administration office.
In this role, you will research and draft a variety of types of
writing, including speeches, media-related writing and other projects
related to a range of subjects, such as university history, SCAD
degree programs, trends in art and design, and current ideas in higher
education. You will be expected to proofread and edit with speed and
accuracy, capture the voice of the presenter, and develop relationships
with subject matter experts across the university.
The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of creative
storytelling, strategic thinking, excellent research and fact-checking,
and quality writing, including published personal articles for both
magazines and websites. You should write with wit, warmth and
intelligence, respond to feedback with positivity and eagerness, and
have the ability to meet changing deadlines and priorities.
The effective organization and management of multiple concurrent,
urgent projects is essential to this role, as well as strong
interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in an extremely
fast-paced environment. You should also have excellent presentation
skills, and be comfortable working with multiple editors and pitching
and presenting story ideas to the president and executive
administration.
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree
-Master’s degree preferred
-Experience writing or ghostwriting for major publications and outlets
or writing for the highest executives in an organization preferred
-Professional knowledge of higher education or the creative disciplines taught at SCAD preferred
