Software Engineer, Adobe Research – Machine Learning Powered Creative Tools for Everyone

Creative Intelligence Lab within Adobe Research plays a key role in creating next-generation applications and features in Adobe’s flagship products, including Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Acrobat. We have worked on banner features such as Photoshop’s Content-Aware Fill, Upright Photo, and Generator/Export; Premiere’s Multi-Camera Sync; Audition’s Remix; Illustrator’s latest Pencil tool; and an array of forthcoming mobile apps and desktop features.

Creative Intelligence Lab is searching for a machine learning software engineer with a deep interest in creative tools. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced developer to help generate novel creative tools for non-designers.  Your role would be to help researchers in our lab to transfer their technologies into Adobe’s desktop, tablet, and cloud applications for design and visual content creation, and to develop frameworks for further exploration. This position provides the opportunity to work directly with Adobe’s world-class research teams and to help their innovations empower not just artists and designers, but also everyday consumers. You will also be working closely with product teams like Photoshop and Illustrator, who will help you complete tech transfers into their applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop frameworks for testing, explorations or for deployment of new technologies.
  • Create prototype tablet apps (including UI) based on new technologies.
  • Integrate new technologies into Adobe’s Creative Cloud applications and services.
  • Deploy software that is powered by machine learning in the cloud and on mobile platforms.

Requirements

  • MS or BS in Computer Science (or equivalent) and extensive programming experience.
  • Strong engineering skills.
  • Strong C++ development skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Python.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning.
  • Familiarity with basic computer graphics and vision algorithms.
  • Experience in the area of iOS tablet app development, including UI development.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, and user experience fundamentals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable background and experience

  • GPU compute experience.  This may include, OpenGL, OpenGL ES, OpenCL, CUDA, or DirectCompute.
  • Experience developing both on Windows and Mac.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning, especially deep learning.
  • Experience developing Android apps.
  • Experience with cloud computing and/or web development.
  • Interest and knowledge in visual art, design, and photography.
