Job Description

Industrial Light & Magic (Vancouver) Inc is seeking a Texture Artist.  The Texture Artist creates textures, colours, and organic surface qualities needs for the completion of computer-generated creatures and hard-surface assets (models) used in visual effects for feature films.

Roles & Responsibilities
*works with production team (VFX Supervisor, discipline Supervisor, Lead/Senior Texture Artists) to execute the desired look of CG models, including complex creature and/or hard-surface models including ships, real-world vehicles and environments.
*responsible for creating the textures, colours, and organic surface qualifies needed in the completion of CG creatures and hard-surface models used in production
*participates as a team member in determining various design solutions; provides feedback to other members of the production by attending dailies (review sessions) regularly
*works closely with Art Directors, Modelers, and Look Development artists in achieving the desired look of photo-real models
*maintains or exceeds consistent levels of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing work of the highest quality

Qualifications & Experience
*at least four years' relevant industry experience across feature film, television, or games development
*a demo reel and portfolio illustrating knowledge and experience in painting, illustration or design
*familiarity with film production; computer graphics
*strong attention to detail
*ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information
*good interpersonal skills
*proficiency in Maya, Mari (preferred), Zbrush, Photoshop, or Bodypaint
*ability to navigate complex computer graphics pipelines
*knowledge / ability in 3D modeling is an asset
*time management, scheduling and flexibility required 

This is a full-time, temporary (project-based) position offering 4% vacation pay above base wage, and health and dental benefits including BC MSP.  Our studio offers a free on-site fitness centre.  Expected salary range is $62,900 - $99,300 annually plus Premium Pay (1.5x hourly effective rate after 40 hours, 2x hourly effective rate after 60 hours weekly), commensurate with experience.
