DHX Media – Vancouver is looking for an experienced 3D Pipeline Supervisor to join our team! 

We are looking for a 3D Pipeline Supervisor to develop, manage, and maintain the 3D pipeline for our Vancouver studio. Strong leadership and management abilities are necessary for this role.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

• Partner with the Pipeline Producer to effectively prioritize and manage the pipeline team’s task assignments, while collaboratively establishing the pipeline roadmap
• Effectively leverage the skillset in the pipeline team to support and maintain an efficient technical workflow appropriate to episodic production
• Work with pipeline team to efficiently maintain pipeline tickets, effectively communicating priorities and rollouts to production
• Oversee and manage the effective and stable implementation of new code to the existing code base
• Anticipate pipeline development challenges and identify solutions with the Pipeline Producer
• Partner with CG Supervisors, leads and heads of departments to support their technical and creative approach for production
• Alongside the Pipeline Producer, collaborate with production management to ensure they have what they need to achieve their team’s milestones
• Work closely with production, pipeline and development to implement software, toolsets, and workflow solutions for the studio while determining resource requirements
• Meet with leads on the shows to support production and artist concerns including debugging, troubleshooting and managing fixes
• Motivate and manage the pipeline team through demonstrated leadership and positive presence
• Support and encourage a collaborative team approach
• Clearly identify and establish performance expectations for direct reports
• Create and recommend show/facility-based scripts and tools as needed
• Act as a liaison communicating technical issues to IT, Production and Development as needed
• Keep up-to-date on the latest research and industry developments 

WHAT YOU BRING:

• 5+ years experience as a Pipeline Supervisor in the animation or film or software industry
• Extensive experience developing for CG applications such as Maya and Nuke
• Advanced knowledge of networking and performance issues that arise with automated tools
• A degree or equivalent in Computer Graphics, Computer Science or other related course
• Thorough understanding of the entire production process, including modeling, texturing, animation, rigging, rendering, compositing and FX creation
• Experience with Linux and Windows is required
• Experience scripting with Python
• Experience scripting or writing plugins for Maya and Nuke
• Working knowledge and understanding of C/C++ or other object-oriented programming language
• Experience with databases such as MySQL is required
• Knowledge of Subversion, CVS, Git or other revision control system
• Good understanding of database-based applications such as Shotgun and Qube
• Knowledge and experience working with a large render farm
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Highly motivated with the ability to work under pressure
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to delegate and mentor people and projects
• Detail-oriented with a strong ability to multitask
• Strong working knowledge of 3D software packages and pipelines
• Understanding of episodic, direct to video, feature film production methodologies
