Senior Pipeline TD

Touch Surgery Studio is a CG animation studio creating animated surgical procedures to train surgeons. We have all the familiar departments you would find in an Animation or VFX studio such as modeling, lookdev, rigging, animation, lighting, and compositing, and use all the familiar tools such as Maya, Nuke, and Mari. We additionally have a medical team to supervise the content development and release our product on a mobile app.

We are looking to expand our pipeline team with an experienced Pipeline TD/Python Programmer with broad development experience.

You will be working with a team of Pipeline TDs, and collaborate with CG, production and medical supervisors to understand requirements. You will develop, maintain and operate tools and systems to enable the smooth and efficient development of our content.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop user facing workflow tools that power our pipeline: You will collaborate with CG, production, medical and QA leads to understanding requirements; you will develop tools and systems to enable workflows.
  • Develop tooling for pipeline infrastructure: You will develop and maintain render queue interfaces and integration tooling, database APIs and data management tools; you will provide backup and training for our operational staff, and operational services and support as needed.
  • Maintain and improve our pipeline: You will improve and refine our pipeline and its capabilities as requirements evolve and change; you will work to keep the system clean and efficient and working effectively at all times.
  • Debug and fix technical issues: You will work with artists to identify and resolve issues, providing workarounds as necessary so deadlines can be met; you will provide backup support for junior technical staff.
  • Document tools and train staff: You will ensure that documentation and training materials are prepared and kept current; you will work with staff members to ensure they understand the pipeline, the tools, and best practices.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance: You will mentor junior technical staff and guide them in their learning and skills development; you will be a source of technical information for all staff.
  • Participate in architecture and roadmap planning: You will be part of the team responsible for developing the architectural vision of the pipeline and the development roadmaps; you will ensure that tool development is aligned with our vision and integrated with our platform.
  • Develop and maintain the user environment: You will ensure that systems for workstation setup and software installation and configuration are in place and current; you will train IT staff on the use of these systems, and be able to operate these systems yourself if required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Computer science or related degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Python language and its toolchain.
  • Experience with Go and/or C++ an advantage.
  • 5+ years in a development role within CG animation, VFX or Games studio.
  • Experience with tools such as Maya, Nuke, Mari, Shotgun, and Ftrack.
  • Skilled developing with PyQt/PySide, Python web frameworks, and databases.
  • Understanding of web infrastructure systems an advantage.
  • Understanding of mobile App architectures an advantage.
