Description
3DSystems / Gentle Giant is looking
for a full-time, 3D digital sculptor with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience
for our Burbank California studio.
Digital artist should demonstrate a
solid understanding of human anatomy, flair for composition, and hard-surface
modeling. This position will be involved with many of the mainstream
entertainment brands.
Responsibilities
As a 3D artist/modeler the qualified
candidate will be well versed in organic and hard surface sculpting in Zbrush
and Maya.
As part of the everyday workflow,
the candidate will be required to work with either detailed or loose design
briefs. This includes the ability to accurately translate 2D artwork into 3D.
Candidate will need to be a
self-starter and will typically work on multiple projects at any given time
within a fast-paced environment, and the ability to make necessary adjustments
quickly while complying with art direction.
Monitor and report workflow
progress, keeping pace with delivery schedule requirements for each project.
This includes providing regular progress shots.
Flexibility with working on
different types of projects ranging from creating new geometry to processing
scan data
Candidate should be proactive and
solution driven
Basic
Requirements:
Experienced in Zbrush and Maya programs.
Experience working with Adobe Photoshop
Exhibit a portfolio with samples of previous 3D modeling projects
Understanding of 3D print basics and creating water tight geometry
Ability to work independently and achieve results without a lot of supervision
Communicate effectively with a variety of team players
Organizational skills
Additional Skills Not Required But A
Plus:
Rigging of models
Ability to render and/or digitally paint 3D models
Experience with other 3D modeling and CAD software programs outside of Maya and
ZBrush
Knowledge and Skills:
Zbrush, Maya, Photoshop (file formats, etc….)
Model Creation and Understanding:
Models created should have multiple sub-divisions and the ability to go from
low res version to a high res version
Models can consist of separate meshes
Following precise naming convention outline. Name each mesh appropriately
Each mesh should be water tight, meaning it completely encloses a volume
without any gaps or holes
Ability and understanding of keying and boolean objects
Creating an object and ability to engineer and separate components/geometry so
that can be 3D printed separately and key/fit together.
