Umedia Vancouver is a small, growing VFX and finishing team headed by CEO and Oscar nominated VFX Supervisor, Peter Muyzers, and backed by a management team with many decades of direct experience on the front lines of Hollywood production and post-production. Our goals are ambitious yet realistic, and we’re rapidly becoming Vancouver’s go-to boutique facility for high-end visual effects.  

We’re seeking a Pipeline TD to join the Umedia Vancouver team.

  • Do you communicate and collaborate well with artists and enjoy enabling them to create even better work, even more efficiently?
  • Are you a great problem solver and have familiarity with some or all of the major VFX applications and platforms? (Shotgun, Nuke, Maya, Houdini, Linux, etc)

YOUR MISSION

  • To provide technical support, find and fix issues, and create tools to support immediate production needs.
  • To support artists, supervisors and production by providing integrations and interfaces between back-end infrastructure and users.
  • To quickly prototype software and interfaces for production use and provide usability feedback to software developers to help guide the full implementation.
  • Take part in code reviews by giving and receiving feedback to ensure the code base stays clean for the long term.
  • Take ownership of your own work, priorities and schedule while being understanding of the big picture priorities of the company.
  • Report to and advise the R&D Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 3 years high end VFX production experience.
  • Expertise in problem solving and python scripting for Shotgun, Maya, Nuke, and/or Houdini.
  • Familiarity with 2D and 3D artist departments, workflow and techniques.
  • C++, PyQT, and Linux shell scripting, or an interest in learning.
  • Knowledge of file formats, LUTs, rendering, shaders, render farm managers is an advantage.
  • A disciplined approach to naming conventions, documentation, ticketing, and familiarity with version control and use of code repositories (Git preferred).
  • Versatility to adapt as priorities shift, and a strong interest in growing your skill base.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are a resident of Canada and you are legally permitted to work in Canada.
