Animatronic Animation Supervisor - Theme Parks

Illumination is looking for an Animatronic Animation Supervisor to oversee CG and animatronic animation development for our Theme Park projects.

Responsibilities

Supervise the animation for the animatronics for specific theme park attractions
Supervise CG character animation used as basis for creating animatronic characters
Work with animators to ensure the creative goals by the Director are met. Involves hands-on relationship with the artists, viewing sequences before the Director, and collaborating during Director approvals on shots
Work closely with the Producer, Director, Character TDs, and Animators to ensure the performance requirements of the character work with the rig and tools. Also ensure ongoing communications with the Character TD’s to make sure the process runs smoothly
Work closely with animatronic vendors to guide, review, give notes and approve the final programming of the figures
Optimize animation to align with performance requirements
Interact with other departments to ensure acting performance of characters is preserved across all sequences
Work with the Production Supervisors to hit sequence deadlines and ensure the quotas are met
Visit and supervise animatronic vendors and
Oversee the animation for all animated media in theme park attractions

Qualifications

7+ years of character animation experience in Feature Animation, VFX, Theme Park or equivalent
Must have experience animating physical animatronic figures
A thorough knowledge of animating in Maya
An understanding of rigs and typical rigging set-ups, animation pipelines and transferring data between tools
Excellent understanding of strong character posing and performance
A working knowledge of Modeling, Rigging and Mel/Python scripting
Reliable, with good time keeping and the ability to meet deadlines
Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
