Animation & Game Design Instructor

The Department of Art, Art History, and Design at the University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for a full-time lecturer in Animation and Game Design to begin on August 15, 2018. Eligible candidates will have in-depth knowledge of animation and video game art production pipelines as well as the ability to teach introductory to advanced production classes.  Ideal applicants will also have an interest in Game Design and be able to teach non-technical classes focused on game design & history.

Our current curriculum is 3D-centric with classes taught using Maya, Mudbox, Substance, Unreal, and the Adobe CC suite. We would like to expand course offerings into 2D areas of production such as concept art, storyboarding, 2D animation, etc.  Areas of specialization and specific classes to be taught are somewhat flexible for this position as we will create new courses around the expertise and interests of our new hire that further enhance our programs.

Candidates for the position must hold an MA or higher (MFA preferred) in Animation, Game Design, or related field. Industry experience is preferred, but not required. The full-time lecturer is a teaching position with a 4/4 load and no research responsibilities at the university, though creative activity is encouraged.  A passion for undergraduate education is paramount.
