Evil Eye’s Maya / VR Technical Director position will be focused on the company’s VR and real-time work. Primarily using a combination of Maya and proprietary software, you will be collaboratively developing creative content and technical solutions with a major Bay Area tech partner in producing interactive experiences for VR and mobile of the highest quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with creative and technical leads to develop assets, tools and workflows in the production of feature-quality interactive animation for VR.
Working with other TDs / artists and providing technical / creative feedback.
Ability to achieve creative goals while working with software under development and providing feedback on its use.
Skills & Experience:
Required
Broad knowledge of Maya, including Modeling, Texturing/Shading, Lighting, Rigging, FX and Rendering.
Strong verbal & written communication skills to communicate effectively with internal & external producers / creatives / engineers.
5+ years experience in 3D animation / FX work.
Strong eye for color / composition / design / animation.
Desire and patience to use and debug developmental software in a production environment.
Preferred
Python or other programming knowledge / proficiency strongly preferred.
Aptitude in Photoshop, After Effects, Nuke, 3D paint programs and version control software (i.e. Perforce) very helpful.
Experience with Unreal / Unity a big plus.
Knowledge of real-time shaders, lighting and optimization very helpful.
Experience in games, including the ability to optimize models, textures, FX, and rigs for VR / real-time platforms also a big plus.
