Lighting Supervisor
Description
CoSA VFX is looking for a Los Angeles-based Lighting Supervisor with extensive technical and creative experience. This role will manage the technical needs and ensure the quality of the work before delivery. A successful lighting supervisor will provide technical and artistic guidance to the team as well as strong, collaborative leadership in the studio.
Our studio is a fast-paced and highly collaborative production environment. Recent projects include Westworld, Gotham, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Orville.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the artistic lighting of an environment, characters or elements within the vision set forth by the client and the VFX Supervisor
- Provide guidance to the team on show-standard templates and light rigs, and on beautifully lit, stunning images for our compositing team
- Manage the rendering process for shots
- Setup and maintain templates for shows, sequences or shots
- Ensure consistency across artists and shots
- Oversee rough, preliminary composites of renders for dailies and reviews
- Collaborate and support the CG Supervisor to fulfill the creative vision of the show
- Work closely with other artists under tight production schedules
- Lend insight to CG Supervisors, TDs and Render Wranglers to help correct pipeline inefficiencies
- Respond quickly to the needs of management and clients
- Work proactively and collaboratively with all the other departments
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years Lighting experience in a Visual Effects production environment using different softwares (Maya/Nuke)
- 3+ years of experience in technical supervision including mentorship, ability to give feedback and direction and to assign work as need
- Strong understanding of 3D concepts and workflows
- V-Ray and Red Shift experience
- Demonstrated excellent organization and communication skills
- Consistent in providing high-end aesthetic and technical execution
