Description
DigiPen Institute of Technology is a Redmond, WA based
college that uses a unique hands-on, project-based curriculum designed to
reinforce core academic and foundational coursework in the areas of computer
engineering, software development, sound design, production animation, and game
design.
The Department of Production and Animation invites
applications for a full-time faculty position.
The position begins on or before August 1st, 2018, and is
subject to budget availability. The appointment is expected at the assistant
professor rank, but candidates with exceptional qualifications may be
considered for appointment at the rank of associate professor.
Responsibilities:
·
Lecture
and teach in a classroom setting on a daily basis.
·
Grade,
critique and input assignment data on a weekly basis.
·
Act
as a faculty mentor for students.
·
Teach
fundamentals and advanced topics in character animation using Maya.
·
Provide
creative direction and criticism to students. This could include character
animation research, animation blocking, and animation polish.
·
Work
with other faculty members to develop an ongoing and constantly improving
curriculum.
Preferred
Qualifications:
·
MFA
degree in art or media related field.
·
Teaching
experience and/or demonstrated training experience.
·
Extensive
professional experience in art, not necessarily limited to computer/video games
or animation.
Minimum
Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s
degree in art or media related field.
·
Four
years’ experience animating characters in the role of Animator for games or
cinematic.
·
Proficient
in animating using Maya.
·
A
Reel/Portfolio showing animation, and 2d art skills.
·
Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
