Senior System/Network Technician (Temp)

Description

The Senior System/Network Technician provides technical support to internal production studios for software and hardware issues, and fulfills service requests such as system hardware and software upgrades to facilitate production. In addition, this individual participates in engineering research and activities to include image deployment, desktop patching, proactive client systems management, pre-production testing of developed solutions, and other methods to manage the desktop environment proactively. This position researches and suggests hardware/software improvements to the client environment, assists in projects and leads tasks to improve or change infrastructure to meet milestones and/or allow for more efficient software development. Assists in day-to-day maintenance and operation of the network, server and PBX systems that provide the production infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides level 1-5 support to internal customers when responding to incidents and requests for assistance with “off the shelf” and proprietary development software, hardware, console development hardware, peripherals, outages, etc.
  • Proactively suggests and/or fulfills service requests for upgrades to hardware, software, and changes to infrastructure to better accommodate development needs, including building custom hardware systems and images. 
  • Proactively participate in activities which facilitate the streamlining of desktop support tasks, or which improve the client environment and allow for more efficient software development (including image generation and deployment, desktop system patch management).
  • Participates in projects requested by development teams or internally to facilitate improvements to production processes and/or infrastructure.
  • Proactively create documentation for tools, asset tracking, systems, processes and procedures utilized by the desktop support team when a new system or process is implemented, or when needed documentation is absent.

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum four years’ experience supporting/installing end-user hardware and software in a development environment, preferably with networked Windows Server and Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Experience using and/or supporting consumer audio/video equipment and game console system setup and operation
  • Experience building and troubleshooting custom PC hardware configurations
  • Experience building/deploying custom images in a Windows environment using Microsoft Deployment, WDS, SCCM, or other imaging software
  • Experience operating within Service Level Agreements and using ticketing request systems to track status of requests and work completed
  • Experience supporting most of the following technologies and applications in a software development environment:
  • Windows 10 (32- and 64-bit versions)
  • Autodesk Maya, 3DS Max, Adobe CS6 and other art/video packages
  • Perforce or other source control software
  • Desktop imaging technologies such as SCCM
  • Desktop management tools such as SMS, SCCM, or LANDesk
  • Office365 Administration
  • Windows Server 2008, 2012 including user account and Exchange mailbox administration
  • Ethernet cabling and networking
  • Audio/Visual equipment (conference rooms and events support)
  • Minimum two- or four-year degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skill
  • Fine attention to detail and quality of work
  • Expert at PC hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of desktop systems management and engineering functions
  • Solid problem solving and root cause analysis skill
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Solid leadership ability
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new systems/technologies
  • Familiarity with consumer audio/video system setup and operation
  • Excellent customer service skills and follow-through
  • Ability to lift/move PC hardware and console development equipment.
  • Capable of using hand tools to perform basic mechanical tasks.
