Lead Sets & Props Shading Artist

MAIN DUTIES:
• The Shading Lead will be leading a team of shading Artists in one project to ensure the quality and deadlines are met. The right Candidate will be responsible for briefing the team, communicating notes and making sure it´s implemented.
• Take and receive direction from the Supervisor and providing feedback for the team and reviewing artist’s work.
• Be an expert on all things relating to shading, texturing, and optimizing assets.
• Work with the Director and Supervisor to elevate the quality to the next level.
• First evaluation of the shading artist’s work, making sure all the assets follow the quality standards and artistic direction.
• Proactive approach to learning new skills and tools.
• The Lead will do asset and will be responsible of the entire location made by the artists.
• The shading lead will build the scene and will equalize it, show it to the supervisor to give the final approve.
• The shading Lead will iterate with the production designer to find the location design in production time.
• The lead will iterate with the lighting leads and the director of photography during the productions shots and quality checks.
• The lead will iterate with the scene comp leads during the sweatbox process.
• If necessary, the lead will iterate with the director, show them the complete location previously approved by the supervisor.
• The lead will solve technical problems with the cgSupervisor, defining the best way to do it.
• Provide shader support to the Lighting and FX teams throughout production.

Main responsibilities
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A good eye for color, composition and detail as it relates to organic models
• A strong understanding of how things should look and feel given specific artistic direction or reference
• Great with time estimations, assessments and prioritizing.
• Must be able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
• Hard modeling knowledge.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
• More than 5 years of experience in feature film, commercial and/or video game production with an emphasis on texture painting.
• Excellent experience in Maya, Photoshop, Mari, Substance Painter and Z-Brush
• Experience with traditional drawing, and/or painting
