Layout Lead

Ilion Studios is looking for a 3D Layout Lead to be responsible for generating the previzualization of the film and refining the final camera movements, in accordance with the established storytelling guidelines, working closely with the Layout Supervisor.

• Works closely with the production departments and the Layout Supervisor to ensure that the layout pipeline works effectively with the studio´s pipeline.
• Creates rough previs models and environments when required
• Confirms the integrity of the production breakdown of all elements in a scene.
• Creates the previs sequences & shots for the movie according to the director/camera supervisor´s guidelines
• Add detail to previs such as scene lighting and narrative relevant effects.
• Works on leading the Camera Refine on her/his sequences final layout of shots.
• Liaises with Layout Supervisor to solve technical problems
• Provide creative and technical solutions to aesthetic problems
• Helps ensure the development and integration of toolsets for layout
• Responsible for improving the performance of artists on her/his team. Mentor artists to provide guidance, experience and insight. Involved in trying to resolve performance related issues.
• Foster good working atmosphere and ethics.

• 5-6 years as layout artist experience
• Experience managing teams
• Extensive knowledge of Maya is necessary
• Demonstrable experience working with complex pipelines, working closely with production departments
• Demonstrable artistic skills including a strong sense of composition and perspective, the ability to create atmosphere and good understanding of editing
• Knowledge of Animation is a plus
• Understands cameras, staging, composition, pacing, timing, general film-making concepts, both in animation and live action contexts
• Comfortable creating basic assets
• Experience with Lighting preferred
• Respect for the procedures and requirements of the studio, production and pipeline.
• Clear, professional communication skills
