CHARACTER SUPERVISOR

JOB SUMMARY

Creature/Character Supervisor will be responsible for creating set ups and running shots containing rigid body, flesh, hair, and cloth simulations as well as identifying and communicating rigging, creature pipeline issues, and experienced in modelling, texture and shading. Will be working closely daily with the VFX Supervisor and Producer on meeting show Creature needs, as well as Show CG Supervisor and Various department supervisors on each department needs and target.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising/mentoring assigned crew to meet studio needs, identifying talent and skill developing of artists.
  • Involved in all facility projects that includes any Creature/Character work.
  • Collaborate with Vfx Supervisor and CG Supervisor to give feedback on set data collected, and or provide requirements.
  • Ensures team meets department/show targets and that downstream department receives what they need in a timely fashion with proper quality control of the team's work.
  • May also be assigned artists from various departments and will have to supervise and ensure each Asset (Creature/Character) meets the needs each step of the way.
  • Proficiency in Facial modeling and rigging, knowledge in anatomy and muscle systems, and an understanding in body and facial deformations
  • Work closely with Animation department supervisor to determine their needs, communicate to Rigging department supervisor and/or artist, as well as final QC of tools and rigs prior to release. Also have a good relationship with other
  • Work closely with Department Production Manager/Head of Digital Production on talent management, artist review and performance to ensure that the department has sufficient and right type of crew to meet the demands of all shows.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  •  3+ years experience leading VFX teams
  • Proven technical and leadership capabilities
  • Experience in leading, mentoring and training large teams.
  • Exceptional organizational skills; understand how to prioritize tasks, assignments with team skills.
