AR/VR Research Engineer

Description

AR/VR Research Engineer

Description

The Creative Intelligence Lab (CIL) at Adobe Research is looking for a research software developer with a specialization in AR/VR. CIL brings together a world-class team of both researchers and engineers tasked with exploring new ideas that shape how digital artists and designers create using Adobe's tools. This position calls for close collaboration with researchers in augmented and virtual reality, computer graphics, vision, and machine learning to develop demos, tools, and interactions towards next-generation spatial computing. Delivering low-latency, high-fidelity experiences in immersive media is still an open computational challenge, so this role requires experience in writing, debugging, and profiling GPU code.

Responsibilities

Develop libraries, toolkits, pipelines, and algorithms that can be leveraged across multiple AR/VR research projects.

Write efficient, elegant, and reusable code in modern C++.

Investigate and implement state-of-the-art algorithms in computer graphics and computational geometry with a focus on hard real-time systems (90hz and beyond).

Create innovative experiences at the intersection of multiple fronts in computational media: lightfields, volumetric video, pointclouds, and meshes.

Analysis and experimentation of emerging AR/VR headsets, input devices, and applications.

Propose, implement, and test novel human-computer interactions with respect to head-mounted hardware.

Champion the transfer of technology onto product teams.

Qualifications

BS or MS degree in computer science or related field.

Deep understanding of 3D geometry and linear algebra

Practical experience with large codebases (including 3D engines like Unity or Unreal)

2-8 years of experience writing modern C++ (11/14/17)

Extensive experience with low-level graphics APIs and GPGPU languages (OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan, Metal, CUDA, OpenCL).
