DHX Media – Vancouver is looking for experienced Design Generalists to join our team! 

The role:

The Design Generalist role is perfect for a person who loves to mix it up and try new challenges! We’re searching for talented artists who are experienced with a number of aspects of design, including Character Design, BG Design, Prop Design, Cleanup, Rotations, and/or Colour. We're looking for portfolios that demonstrate variety, passion and a strong understanding of the different areas of design for one of our 2D animated series! 

You will get to:

• Work with the Art Director and other Designers to create engaging, performable characters and props according to the style of the production
• Translate character description and attitude from script to visual design
• Submit multiple design variations and revisions based on feedback from Directors
• Create model sheets of character turnarounds and facial/anatomical expressions
• Organize and manage work and files efficiently
• Other tasks and responsibilities as required for completion of the project

• You have a strong understanding of proportion, balance, perspective, dimension and dynamism
• You are able to take direction and work collaboratively within a team
• You have the ability to communicate professionally and positively
• You are well-organized with good time management skills

 Specific skills we’d love to see… 

• Strong drawing ability and a solid sense of design for 2D animation
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to adapt to multiple production styles
• Previous experience in character and/or prop design on a series is a definite asset
• Experience in character rotations on a series preferred
• Ability to work digitally (Photoshop, Flash, Sketchbook, etc.)
• Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school desired
• Experience in 3D Design is an asset
