DHX Media – Vancouver is looking for experienced Art Directors to join our team! 

The role:

 Are you a born leader with a keen eye for design? Were you destined to be a creative superstar and guide a team of talented artists to victory? As the Art Director, you’ll manage the overall visual direction of the production, and be the go-to advisor for all things design on this exciting new project!

You will get to:

• Review all designs (character, prop, location & colour) and ensuring they support the overall creative vision and style of the production
• Confirm all designs are suitable for the production in aesthetic, functionality and form
• Lead and mentor a team of 8-10 Designers; providing guidance, feedback, information and ideas
• Maintain open communication and collaboration throughout all departments of the Production team
• Maintain the production schedule and ensuring the Design team meets all required deadlines and milestones
• Communicate proactively with the Producer, Directors and other departments to resolve potential issues as a team
• Oversee Design Rounds twice a week as well as regular one-on-one meetings to maintain open dialogue and feedback with each Designer
• Accept support from management; Directors and Producer, when needed
• Work on other tasks and responsibilities as required

• 2-3 years of experience as a 2D or 3D Art Director
• A solid understanding and proficiency in 2D or 3D art and animation including character, prop, location and colour
• A strong proficiency in Toon Boom Harmony required
• Previous experience in Adobe Photoshop
• Previous experience and understanding of brand/product marketing is an asset
• Previous experience with other 2D or 3D software (Adobe Animate, TV Paint, etc.) an asset
