Professor of Animation

Description

SCAD seeks a professor of animation for the Hong Kong campus. In this role, you will provide vision and leadership while applying your industry experience and expert technical proficiency in the classroom. You will also develop and extend student awareness of story, design, audience and collaboration in production. A keen understanding of commercial or independent filmmaking would be a major asset. Additionally, you will teach a unique curriculum that explores animation styles ranging from stop-motion to 3-D animation, and includes digital modeling, rigging, lighting and look development.

The ideal candidate will foster interdepartmental collaboration and continue to enhance the reputation of the SCAD animation department in academic and professional circles, work with the admission department to recruit talented undergraduate and graduate students, teach assigned classes and assist with organizing screenings and events.

You possess a strong portfolio of work that reflects a high degree of knowledge in animation, can demonstrate via online demo reel expertise in character animation, have university-level teaching experience and a track record of leadership, an ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds, and success in motivating students to think creatively and critically.

Proficiency using state-of-the-art software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Maya, ZBrush, Toon Boom, Harmony, Unreal or Unity is essential.

Requirements:
–Terminal degree or its equivalent in animation or a related field
–University-level teaching experience
