Career Services Adviser

Description

SCAD seeks a career services adviser to play an integral role in the university’s mission to prepare students for creative careers.

In this role, you will counsel students and alumni and act as a liaison with an assigned school, classification and set of major fields of study. You will provide assigned students with one-on-one advising sessions and group workshops, and network with industry leaders, businesses and alumni in order to develop job and internship opportunities. Additionally, you will participate in departmental and institutional events as needed.

The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of the career development process as well as previous experience as a personal adviser, consultant, coach or counselor working with a diverse population. A demonstrated understanding of the art and design job market is required, including thorough knowledge of career-consulting sources and reference tools.

Strong communication, presentation, organization and project-management skills are essential. You should have working knowledge of information management systems and web-based technology, and always maintain a student-centered focus and a positive, proactive spirit.

Requirements:
— Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
