The Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Product Engineering Manager should have exceptional skills with CAD, CAM, 3D technology, and great customer service skills. This role will be part of Align goal to deliver our clear aligners (Invisalign ®) and 3D scanners (iTero ®) to our customers. Our new Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Product Engineering Manager (PEM)will help us build products our users love and that will change the way doctors and patients do dentistry, especially orthodontics. The ideal candidate is actively curious, incredibly bright, highly organized, quality obsessed and has at least two years of Product Management and a deep background in manufacturing and Computer Aided Manufacturing.
In our matrix organization, the PEM works closely with multiple manufacturing facilities, biomechanical, materials, software engineers, QA, and marketing to build and release high quality products. This role takes care of all the product life cycle from strategy and concept to product and feature requirements to use cases.
Job Description:
- The PEM is responsible for driving the strategy and development of Computer Aided Manufacturing to scale our 3D printing, laser cutting, 5-axis milling. automation and scaling of this equipment
- Work effectively to translate business strategies into product strategies, roadmaps, and product specifications that deliver against both our core customer benefits and our company strategic and financial goals
- Must drive agreement on product requirements and directions between multiple stakeholders.
- Work on projects with global capabilities and impact key product decisions through the development lifecycle.
- Gain a deep understanding of the customers’ needs, manufacturing processes, 3D Printing and of product development.
- Successfully own the product and drive the development teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Spend time with business owners, customers, users, factories
- Defines what we build based on business owners & customers’ input
- Helps draft high level technical architecture with the R&D team
- Interfaces with business owners in our factories, operations, IT and other functional groups
- Defines technical products requirements
- Lead technical product roadmap
- Groom backlog as product owner
- Represent business owners & customers
- Demand an aggressive timeline
- Act as agile product owner
- Ambitious in reaching for a deep meaningful competitive product
- Helps define User Acceptance Testing scenarios
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experienced leadership in software/manufacturing/medical device product ideation, definition & management
- Demonstrated mastery of software engineering
- Experience with CAD/CAM, 3D Printing, Thermoforming, Laser cutting devices, Mills, Complex User Tools, Web Services, etc.
- Proficient in agile product management practices
- Deep understanding of computer science & data processing
- Exemplary technical and people leadership skills
- Team player with strong ability to explain technical issues to business users
- Makes effective decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure
- Uses a mixture of analysis, experience, and process to reach conclusions
- Must demonstrate a strong track record of delivering results
- Excellent presentation/oral communication skills
- Excellent leadership, management, communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
Requirements:
- Bachelor, Masters or Ph.D in Sciences or Engineering or 8 years of equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of Engineering/Research experience
- 2+ years of Product Management Experience
- 2+ years of Experience working with a manufacturing facility
- 1+ years of Experience working with 3D printing
Nice to have/Optional
- 2+ years of Effective Mature Agile Product Management experience, preferred
- Experience in at least 2 of the following:
- Medical Devices, Manufacturing (Mass, Batch or One-off), 3D Printing, 3D Data Representation (CAD, CAM, Polygonal modeling, Digital sculpting, implicit or sub divisional surfacing, etc…)
- Experience in at least 3 of the following:
- Global Web Systems, Distributed Storage Systems, Enterprise Security, Advanced Networking, Map-Reduce Data Processing , SQL & NoSQL Databases, Programming Platforms like Java or JavaScript or Python or similar
- Deep Knowledge and Vision of the Current Evolution of some keys areas of Software Engineering & Technology
- Proven experience with defining and managing customer expectations
