Head Librarian, Research, Instruction/Access Serv.

Description

SCAD seeks a head librarian, research, instruction and access services, to support the academic and creative needs of exceptional students.

In this role, you will oversee library instructional activities, visual resources and special collections functions as well as research and access services of the Jen Library an ALA/IIDA award winning library. In addition, you will support and advance scholarship, learning and creative inquiry for SCAD students and faculty members. This position directly supervises visual resources staff and research and instruction, special collections and access services librarians.

The ideal candidate has five years of professional, postgraduate experience in academic and/or art libraries and demonstrates strong familiarity with print and online information sources pertaining to the interrelated disciplines of art and design, including special collections materials. You should have significant experience in developing, leading and assessing library instruction as well as knowledge of best practices in collection management, preservation and description. Proven ability to initiate an array of services, both digital and in-person, to advance student-centered library experiences is required, as are demonstrated commitment to high service standards and dedication to a student-centered approach to access services and overall library operations.

The head librarian, research, instruction and access services, must have proven success collaborating with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders in support of learning and scholarship. Proven ability to cultivate collaborative approaches and advancement of cross-training dynamics in support of strengthening instructional and operational effectiveness. You should thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have the ability to organize and manage a variety of responsibilities, set priorities, delegate tasks and complete assigned projects in a timely manner, sometimes on short deadlines.

Requirements:

— ALA-accredited MLS degree
— Undergraduate degree in a subject taught at SCAD preferred
— Two to four years of supervisory experience
