Software Engineer, Lighting & Look Development

THE PRODUCT.

THE ROLE.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the existing KATANA team. In a nutshell, you are a seasoned C++ application developer with proven experience and thorough knowledge of software engineering best practice. You’ll have worked in the VFX space for a number of years, and understand the problems that Katana solves,, becoming a hub of knowledge and experience in how we evolve the codebase. You’ll also be an important advocate of our users and their support teams within the engineering team, having experienced life in production.

Collaborating with the project Lead Engineer, your daily work will involve the design, implementation, documentation and testing of C++ and/or Python code. You will be liaising with other engineers in the team and Project Manager as necessary to ensure that the code meets the requirements of the customer and is delivered in a timely fashion.

THE REQUIREMENTS.
    • Good communication skills, well organised, good time management
    • Strong leadership skills, and the desire to learn and mentor those around you
    • Experience of commercial software development and best practice
    • Excellent C++, including knowledge of development tools and processes
    • Knowledge of the VFX post-production pipeline, including 3D applications, renderers, compositing techniques, and 2D/3D paint packages
    • Experience in 3D graphics and rendering technologies, either real-time or ray tracing
    • Good track record of creative problem solving
    • Successful experience of working and assuming responsibility in a development team
    • Knowledge of Python, including development processes and tools
    • Experience of cross-OS development including Windows, Linux, and OSX
