Professor of English

Description

SCAD English professors shape the language and discourse of undergraduate students across disciplines. From dramatic writing and performing arts to advertising, graphic design and beyond, English plays an essential role in the School of Liberal Arts and SCAD Core, the university’s general education curriculum.

You have an opportunity to join one of the most academically diverse general education programs at any art and design university and further advance SCAD students’ ability to investigate, express, defend and advance ideas. Required and elective general education course offerings include subjects in anatomy, astronomy, biology, communication, English, foreign languages, mathematics, philosophy, physics, political science and psychology.

As part of the energetic and innovative SCAD liberal arts faculty, you will prepare the next generation of creative professionals, majoring in fields ranging from film and television to themed entertainment design, from visual effects to writing, and more. Ideal candidates are expected to have previous teaching experience, demonstrate an appreciation for active teaching and display a passion for fostering engaged learning.

Named among the best small cities in the U.S by Condé Nast Traveler, Savannah offers an inviting climate and a culturally rich downtown, providing a real-world workshop for the study of art and design. The university blends seamlessly into the Savannah landscape and provides students with a dynamically layered learning environment in which to thrive.

Requirements:

• Terminal degree in English, writing or a related field
• University-level teaching experience
• Enthusiasm for working with a variety of learning styles at a leading arts university
• Specialty in composition, literary analysis and/or rhetoric preferred
