Professor of Mathematics

Description

From animation to architecture and industrial design, mathematics is an essential component to the development of students and advances their learning from the study of general education into their disciplines of study. SCAD mathematics professors prepare their students for academic and professional achievement as evidenced through the success of numerous SCAD students who will be honored at the European Parliament in Fall 2018 for winning major European Product Design Awards and the Emerging Product Design of the Year. Such accomplishments are only possible through a rigorous and engaging general education experience.

You have an opportunity to join SCAD as a full-time professor of mathematics and contribute to the development of SCAD students as critical thinkers by providing an intellectual foundation that prepares them for success across professions. SCAD mathematics professors advance curricular innovation and offer engaging learning experiences to their students in courses such as MATH 100 College Mathematics, MATH 104 Mathematics of Computer Science, MATH 204 Algorithm Design and Analysis, and MATH 240 Logic.

This position requires the ability to motivate students to think creatively and critically; work with students and faculty of diverse backgrounds; foster creative and interdisciplinary collaboration; and demonstrate enthusiasm for working with a variety of learning styles at a leading arts university.

Named among the best small cities in the U.S by Condé Nast Traveler, Savannah offers an inviting climate and a culturally rich downtown, providing a real-world workshop for the study of art and design. The university blends seamlessly into the Savannah landscape and provides students with a dynamically layered learning environment in which to thrive.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in mathematics
• University-level teaching experience
• Enthusiasm for working with a variety of learning styles in a leading arts university
• Capacity to serve on department teams and university councils to fulfill leadership positions preferred
• Ability and background to teach science courses in physics, physical science, astronomy and chemistry is highly valued
