An opportunity exists to work within a team of specialist technical and academic staff, providing support to students studying on Animation Production and Visual Effects Design and Production courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contributing to the delivery and success of collaborative projects across complementary subjects.

Under the line management of the Faculty Technical Manager the successful candidate will work across the subject area but with close alignment to our Visual Effects Design and Production course, supporting students within the computer laboratory environment throughout the visual effects production pipeline. You will support the processes of pre-visualisation, scene preparation, production (including on-set live-action asset acquisition), effects/simulation, texturing, lighting, compositing and the creation of files for final output rendering; and provide technical and health and safety workshops and demonstrations to groups of students, issue and receive equipment and resources to and from stores, undertake first line maintenance, stock checking and auditing, ensure processes are followed and documentation produced to maintain and manage health, safety and welfare, and provide effective and reactive technical support throughout the working day.

You will need to be conversant with a range of visual effects production software applications, such as Nuke Production Collective, Autodesk Maya, Adobe Creative Cloud, Arnold renderer and Deadline render manager, have an appreciation of the 2D and 3D visual effects pipeline, and be familiar with handling and using professional filmmaking equipment. Experience of planning, building and dismantling exhibitions, and of working in higher or further education would be advantageous, whilst an understanding and appreciation of workplace health, safety and welfare is essential.
