Electro-Optical Modeling and Simulation Support


Applied Technology, Inc. (ATI) has an immediate and ongoing need for professionals to develop visual scenes for real-time U.S. Navy engagement modeling and simulation scenarios. This is a full-time position on-site at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, D.C.


  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for Department of Defense security clearance.  Non-US citizens should not apply.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in: Computer Engineering/Computer Science with a specialty in Geometric and Visual Computing (GVC) or Mechanical Engineering with experience in thermal management and CAD
  • MatLab, C++ programming, Python, shell scripting, and CMake experience
  • Scene-generation experience, with a strong understanding of: 
  • Light physics, propagation, surface properties, perspective, z-buffering, texture, shadows; meshing techniques; system of particles, cloud modeling
  • Image processing experience
  • Visual Studio, Intel, GNU C++, and FORTRAN compiler experience
  • Experienced in working in Windows and Linux environments
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
