DreamWorks TV - Department TD (TEMP)

Job Summary

At DreamWorks Animation Television, our Department Technical Director (TD) works closely with the CG Supervisor and Supervising TD to provide critical support to a show's artists and department heads.  The Department TD will design, develop, and implement new tools and processes for any given department.

DreamWorks Animation Television has an exciting new opportunity for a Department TD to join its team based in Glendale, California. This position is covered by the Animation Guild.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support and development of tools and procedures to extend and enhance the pipeline

  • Assist production and artists with troubleshooting of assets; issues may include problems with fur, clothing, particle effects, animation, and rendering

  • Support and work with multiple departments, including Modeling, Animation, Lighting, FX, and Research and Development

  • Ensure software development follows studio policies and guidelines

  • Work closely with other Technical Director, Department Supervisors and CG Supervisor to maintain and further the production pipeline


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python

  • Experience with Maya and Arnold

  • Creative problem solving and adaptability skills

  • Ability to meet required production deadlines

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and work with minimal supervision

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills when interacting with both technical and artistic groups


Desired Characteristics

  • At least 2 years of experience in television animation, feature animation, VFX, and/or video games

  • Strong programming skills preferred

  • Experience with tool integration into existing or new pipelines is preferred

  • Experience with asset management software, Shotgun preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
