Assistant Professor of Media Arts Creative Coding

The School of Visual Art and Design at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Media Arts, to commence August 16, 2019 at the rank of Assistant Professor. 

We seek candidates with art and design production expertise in emerging media fields, including creative coding, physical computing, digital fabrication, gaming, new media, and other digital-native media content creation workflows. A successful candidate situates their artmaking with theoretical and cultural approaches to their teaching and research, and will be expected to maintain a high level of creative accomplishment, excellent teaching, and school, college, university, and professional service.

The teaching emphasis will be in new media production, emerging media forms, and digital media arts production and postproduction workflows. A successful applicant should be willing to teach a range of production courses across a diverse undergraduate and graduate media arts curriculum, from digital media arts foundations to advanced production in several specialties. Appropriate terminal degree in hand required at start of the position.

The School of Visual Art and Design, http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/art/, employs 33 full-time faculty members who teach classes for over 600 majors in four disciplines: art education, art history, media arts, and studio art.
