The Computational Media and Innovation Centre (CMIC) is a centre within the Faculty of Engineering, which aims to develop a globally competitive research and entrepreneurship programme that facilitates the transfer of computational research outcomes into media technologies for potential commercialisation and start-up businesses.

This role of the interactive designer is to provide design skills in the creation of AR/VR prototypes from emerging IP. This role will work collaboratively with the Prototyping Leader, engineers and artists to translate complex IP into elegant, intuitive working prototypes, and support commercialisation aims.

This role will work closely with CMIC's Prototyping Leader, centre staff of CMIC, students, and industry partners.

The important selection criteria is as follows (please refer the details from the role description):

• Experience in UI/UX design, ideally for for 2D/3D games or interactive applications
• Familiarity with standard AR and VR hardware, software, best practices, and design patterns
• Proficiency with Unity, Unreal, or similar 3D engines
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Self-motivated, creative and optimistic problem solver
• Strong initiative and ability to work independently
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of projects
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tasks
• Familiarity and strong interests in one or more of: Virtual and Augmented Reality, computational media, computer graphics, computer vision, machine learning, and image processing

This is a full-time, one to one and a half years fixed-term position.
