Audio Programmer

Hi-Rez Studios is looking to hire a Senior Audio Programmer to join our new studio Alacrity Arthouse and work at our studio in Alpharetta, Georgia.

In the Alacrity Arthouse Studio, we support all of Hi-Rez’ game projects with a wide range of art pipeline and creative services starting with direct game art and tech art production and pipeline consultation, but also including cinematics, audio design, and outsourcing support. Alacrity Arthouse is a branch of Hi-Rez Studios dedicated to bring great art solutions to Hi-Rez and other game development studios.

What Our Senior Audio Programmers Do: 

    • Design and architect systems and tools across multiple games for the audio team’s needs (such as occlusion, streaming, performance, etc.). 
    • Work closely with the audio team to support them in the usage of these systems and tools.
    • Maintain and improve existing audio engine, game systems, tools and middleware.
    • Implement bug fixes using both Unreal Engine 3 and Unreal Engine 4.
    • Test, refine, optimize systems throughout the development cycle to remove bottlenecks and reduce memory footprints.
    • Write clear, maintainable, portable, and highly functional code.
    • Participate in code and architecture reviews.

What we are looking for:

    • Exceptional programming skills in C/C++  and UnrealScript.
    • Experience with the Unreal 3 Engine and  Unreal 4 Engine.
    • Strong understanding of AudioKinetic Wwise, and audio specific terminology and technology.
    • Proven outstanding debugging and technical problem ownership skills.
    • 3-5 years of experience with programming for video games, with shipped PC/Console titles.
    • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Computer Science or similar discipline (Math, Physics, CE or EE) or equivalent experience through professional game development, indie projects, or mods.
    • Excellent spoken and written communication, comfortable working with sound designers. 
    • Team-oriented, but self-motivated.
    • Thrives upon change. Comfortable prototyping and working with an iterative development process that changes rapidly.
    • Passion for games. 
    • Strong work ethic.
    • Problem solver.

Preferred candidate has:

    • A strong appreciation for competitive games and plays them on their free time.
    • An extreme passion for all-things audio.
    • Familiarity with Jira from a tools perspective.
    • Experience developing for multiple platforms
